Hey friend,
Here's your answer,
Blood vessels are elastic muscular tube - like structure through which blood is carried to different parts of the body. They are of three kinds :-
✔ Arteries - They carry blood from the heart to various body parts. Blood flows under high pressure in them. Blood is rich in oxygen, low in carbon dioxide except in the pulmonary artery.
✴ E.g. Pulmonary vein
_____________________________
✔ Veins - They carry blood from the various body parts to the heart. Blood flows under low pressure. They have valves that prevent the back flow of blood. Blood is low in oxygen, rich in carbon dioxide except in the Pulmonary vein.
✴ E.g. Pulmonary artery
_____________________________
✔ Capillaries - Capillaries connect arteries with veins. There walls are only one cell thick. Arteries branch to form arterioles, which further branch to form capillaries.
Capillaries re - unite to form venules, which again unite to form veins.
✴ Capillaries are most abundant in tissues and organs that are metabolically active.
☸ Capillaries are also involved in the absorption of digested food in the small intestine, assimilation in the cells and the filtration of waste in the kidneys.
