There are 21 High Courts in the country, three having jurisdiction over more than one State.

High court having jurisdiction more than one state is referred to as Common High Court.  The following are major ones:

  • Punjab and Haryana high court- over the states of Punjab and Haryana also over the UT of Chandigarh.
  • Guwahati high court – over the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram.
  • High court of judicature at Hyderabad – over the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
