Bakelite is used for making electrical switches because it is a poor conductor of heat and electricity.

Melamine is a versatile material and it also resits fire. So it is used for making kitchenware. Because melamine is basically a thermosetting plastic which does not melts by fire. Once it is being moulded it cannot be melted again
