Mahatma Gandhi Once stated that religion and Politics can't be separated from each other. By 'religion' he meant moral values.
It is true that the mixture of religion and politics can prove dangerous as we can see in communalism, where one religion is pitted against another. The basis of politics is power. The basis of religion is faith. Faith can have a positive influence on power because it normally leads to values and principles.
Religion should not be mixed with politics because it will deviate the responsibilities of religious leaders.
