In displacement reaction , one element from its salt is displaced by a more reactive element e.g. in following examples Cu is displaced by Zn from CuSO⁴ because Zn is more reactive . In double displacement reaction , exchange of Ions takes place between two reactants to form new products .

Hi Friend
Distinction between displacement and doible displacement reaction.
DISPLACEMENT
-Only one atom is displaced.
- There is one compound used in the reaction while other is metal.
E.g. Zn. + 2HCl --------> ZnCl2 + H2
DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT
- Two atoms are exchanged by each other.
-- There are two compounds used in the reaction.
E.g.
ZnCl2. + CuSO4 ---> ZnSO4. + CuCl2
