It takes about a year to feel confident in pointe shoes, and dancers never cease complaining that their current shoes are no good. Dancers in a professional company get their shoes provided as they can wear out very quickly - at least three pairs a week for someone who's spending a lot of time doing vigorous pointe work.

They do learn the Pirouette by hours of practice and patience.
