Crop rotation is usually done with a leguminous crop along with another (nitrogen requiring) crop. The first crop will use the minerals and nutrients in the soil, while the leguminous crop will restore the nitrogen in the soil. Thus, the soil will remain fertile.
eg: Wheat and Pea
