At the same time, green plants release huge amount of the gas back to the atmosphere by the process of photosynthesis, and maintain a fine balance in oxygen content. Watercontinuously get evaporated from the surface of vast bodies, including the sea, lakes and rivers.

\large\underline\bold{Oxygen\:\:Cycle}

• Oxygen cycle is the process through which oxygen is maintained in our atmosphere. We already know that almost all organisms require oxygen for respiration as all them respire aerobically and are oxybiotic. Hence it is necessary to know about oxygen cycle too.

• When organisms respire then they intake oxygen(O_2) and release carbon dioxide(CO_2). Hence during respiration oxygen is consumed.

• Now the carbon dioxide exhaled by organisms are taken up green plants during daytime in order to produce food by process of photosynthesis. In the same process, oxygen is released.

• Hence the oxygen content is maintained in the air.
