In human beings sex of a child is determined by pair of sex chromosomes.
Males has XY chromosomes while female has XX chromosomes.
During fertilization when X chromosome of a male fuses with X chromosome of female then the baby born will be a girl.
And when Y chromosome of male fuses with X chromosome of female then the baby born will be a boy.
So the father is responsible for sex determination of the baby.
Hope it helps.
