Answer:

mass of one hydrogen atom = 2u

mass of one carbon atom= 12u

now no of atoms present in CH4

= 4

now mass of ch4 is 16u

therefore 32u is double the mass of the original ch4

therefore there would be double that is atoms of hydrogen

The number of hydrogen atoms in given amount of methane are 4.82\times 10^{24}

Explanation:

The chemical formula of methane compound is CH_4

To calculate the number of moles, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}

Given mass of methane = 32 g

Molar mass of methane = 16 g/mol

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\text{Moles of methane}=\frac{32g}{16g/mol}=2mol

1 mole of methane contains 1 mole of carbon atom and 4 moles of hydrogen atoms

According to mole concept:

1 mole of a substance contains 6.022\times 10^{23} number of particles

So, 2 moles of methane will contain = (2\times 4\times 6.022\times 10^{23})=4.82\times 10^{24} number of hydrogen atoms
