◆phanindra said about valence electrons.
◆valency is the maximum number of bonds that an atom of an element can form.
◆The number of electrons present in outermost shell of an atom is called valence electrons.
◆from 1st group to 4th group , valency is the number of valence electrons.
◆from 5th group to 8th group,
valency = 8 - valence electrons of that group.
hope this helps you.
