D = 21 > 0 it means this expression have real roots .
now,

x² - 3x = 3
add both sides, (3/2)²
x² - 3x + (3/2)² = 3 + (3/2)²
x² - 2.(3/2)x + (3/2)² = 3 + 9/4 = 21/4
{x - (3/2)}² = 21/4
take square root both sides,
x -3/2 = ± √21/2
x = 3/2 ± √21/2
hence, x = (3 ± √21)/2
