How we can prove that hcl contains both hydrogn and chlorine?

For proof of chlorine u have to consider the reaction of conc. HCl with a metallic oxide such as MnO2 or PbO2 . ... the acidic properties of HCL prove the presence of Hydrogen in the acid. the reaction of HCL with any metal liberates hydrogen, which proves the above.
