How will a contour map is usefull for farmer

•He can use it for terracing, contour ploughing and contour bunding.
•This will check soil erosion.
•To select low line land for intensive farming. 
•To select hilly tract for plantation farming.

Uses of contour Ploughing are :

Contour ploughing on slopes lessens the erosion caused by rainfall run-off. In effect each plough ridge forms its own little dam and the water does not build up speed - which causes the erosion.

It also works on gently rolling country and, though not strictly “contour” ploughing, if flat land is ploughed at an angle to the prevailing wind it does lessen wind erosion.
