how will you test starch on a potato piece?can it be tested directly if no why?

Cut a potato in 2 pieces / half then pour some iodine solution on it then wait for a while if it turn black bluish it contain starch

take a potato on a petri dish..
with the help of a dropper add iodine solution on the potato...
wait for 2mins....
if brown coloured iodine turns blue black then there is starch in the food....
