The transfer of pollen grains either anther to stigma of the same flower is called self pollination or to a flower on a different plant of the same kind is called cross pollination.

- we can identify by classifying the flower into unisexual and bisexual flower.
- if a flower contains only androceium or only gynoceium it performs cross pollination.
- if a flower contains both androceium and gynoceium it performs self pollination.
