I disposed of my old books.

A quick FYI :

'Dispose of' is used for something that you no longer need, you throw it away.

People , generally , gets confused between using 'dispose of' and 'dispose off' .

Simply , the correct one is 'dispose of' . Because 'of' is a preposition whereas 'off' is an adverb and if we use 'dispose off' there will not be , literally , any sense.
