Deepavali is an important festival of the Hindus. it is a festival of lights. it is celebrated all over India on the 15th day of Kartik. there are many stories about it the story , that is widely believed is like, this lord Rama return to Ayodhya on this day after an exile of 14 years. people of Ayodhya welcomed him by decorating their houses with ghee lamps. later it become a tradition.
on the occasion of Deepavali, we clean our houses and furnitures. we get our houses whitewashed on the night of Deepavali we light Earthen lamps ,candles and electric bulb. we make a display of fireworks. we eat and distribute sweets. we feel very happy.
the whole village and city look beautiful. there are rows of lights everywhere. there is joy and celebration everywhere.
vthe Hindus worship goddess Lakshmi at night. they keep their houses slide all night. they believe that goddess Lakshmi visits the clean and lighted houses this day.
Many people gamble on this occasion most of them loss much money in gambling and suffer in future. this is very bad. the fire work works also cause injuries to some people. so we must be careful on this occasion. we must celebrate it in a proper way.

Diwali celebration lasts for five days and Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world take part in the celebration. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates the new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
According to mythology, the festival of Diwali also commemorates the return of Rama, Sita, Lakshman Hanuman to the kingdom of Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. During the exile Rama defeated the demons and Ravana the demon king.
The Diwali Festival reminds us every year that goodness cannot be defeated by evil. In our daily life we must strive to overcome evil with good.
