3

Answer :

  • The number is 4

Given that :

  • If 3 is added to four times a certain number , then the result obtained is 5 less from 6 times of that number

To find :

  • The number

Solution :

  • Let the number be x

Given, if 3 is added to four times a certain number so,

  • 4x + 3

And also Given that the result obtained is 5 less from 6 times of that number so

  • 6x - 5

According to question,

➞ 4x + 3 = 6x - 5

➞ 3 + 5 = 6x - 4x

➞ 8 = 2x

➞ 2x = 8

➞ x = 8/2

➞ x = 4

Hence , The number is 4

Verification :

➞ 4x + 3 = 6x - 5

➞ 4(4) + 3 = 6(4) - 5

➞ 16 + 3 = 24 - 5

➞ 19 = 19

Hence, Verified
