Number of A atoms per unit cell in hcp lattice=6. Number of octahedral voids=6 Number of octahedral voids occupied by C=(2/3)*6=4 Therefore formula of compound=C4A6=C2A3 Hope it helped. Best of luck:)

Answer:

The general formula of the compound C_2A_3.

Explanation:

Number of spheres in HCP = n

Number octahedral voids in HCP lattice = n

Number of anion A = n

Number of octahedral void occupied by the cation C :

=\frac{2}{3} of octahedral void

=\frac{2}{3}n

The general formula of the compound :

= C_{\frac{2}{3}n}A{n}=C_2A_3

The general formula of the compound C_2A_3.
