The probability of failure = y
we know that sum of probability of success and failure = 1
∵ p(E) + p₁(E) = 1
difference of them = 3/17  (given)
x+y = 1
x-y = 3/17
from the above equations,
2x = 20/17
x= 20/34 = 10 /17
probability of success = 10/17

then y = 1-10/17
 y = 7/17
probability of failure = 7/17
