if (x-1) is a factor of 2x²+kx then

2x²+kx=0 when P(1)

p(1)=2(1)²+k(1)

0=2+k

k=-2

If

x - 1 = 0 \\ x = 1

Now substitute the value of x

2 {x}^{2}  + kx = 0 \\  = 2 {(1)}^{2}  + k(1) = 0 \\  = 2 + k = 0 \\ k =  - 2
