Answer:
x^3 = (√3 + 1)^3/2^3
=> x^3 = (3 + 1 + 9 + 3√3)/8
=> x^3 = (13 + 3√3)/8
x^2 = (√3 + 1)^2/2^2
=> x^2 = (3 + 1 + 2√3)/4
=> x^2 = (4 + 2√3)/4
=> x^2 = (2 + √3)/2
Put the values:
4x^3 + 2x^2 - 8x + 7
=> 4(13 + 3√3)/8 + 2(2 + √3)/2 - 8(√3 + 1)/2 + 7
=> (13 + 3√3)/2 + 2 + √3 - 4√3 - 4 + 7
=> (13 + 3√3 + 4 + 2√3 - 8√3 - 8 + 14)/2
=> (23 - 3√3)/2
