If x+✓y=7 and ✓x+y=11 then find x and y

√x+y=7    ....1

x+√y=11    ....2

√x=7-y

√y=11-x

as √x is positive in eq(1) y≤7

similarly in eq(2) x≤11

assuming x and y are perfect squares and a little trial and error...

x=9  and y=4
