ii) The area of a rectangle reduces by 20 m², if its length is increased by Im and the
breadth is reduced by 2 m. The area increases by 12 m², if the length is reduced
by 3 m and the breadth is increased by 4 m. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.​

Let me take length as 'l' and Breadth as 'x';

Then,

(l+1)(x-2)=lx-20

lx-2l+x-2=lx-20

x-2l=-18

Then,

(l-3)(x+4)=lx+12

lx+4l-3x-12=lx+12

4l-3x=24

Take them as simultaneous equations

x-2l=-18_________1

4l-3x=24_________2

3x-6l=-54_________3

Add 3 and 2,

-2l=-30

So l=15

length = 15m

Substitute l=15 in 2

4l-3x=24

4*15-3x=24

60-3x=24

60-24=3x

36=3x

x=12

So

Breadth = 12m
