If the neck were to function on a hinge joint one would not be able to move the neck in an upward or downward direction which would have been quite an inconvenience.
The only movement which would have been possible for our neck was to be sideways.

If some how one person neck have a hinge joint then, the person will not be able to move his or her neck upward or downward direction.
This actually be a quite a difficult situation, for the sufferer.
Then the person shall only be able to move neck left side or right side.
Necks having only hing joint will only be able to rotate, and can only flex or extend.
