Main features of Godavari river:

✔️It is ​the largest Peninsular river. It originates from the slopes of the Western Ghats in the Nasik district of Maharashtra.

✔️It has a largest drainage system among the peninsular rivers.with a ​length of about 1500 km. It drains into the Bay of Bengal. 

✔️The basin covers parts of Maharashtra (about 50 per cent of the basin area lies in Maharashtra), Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

✔️Its tributaries are the Purna, the Wardha, the Pranhita, the Manjra, the Wainganga and the Penganga.

✔️It is also known as the ‘Dakshin Ganga’ because of ​ its length and the area it covers.
