Given :–

  • Number of boys 5 more than the number of girls.
  • Ratio of the number of boys and the number of girls is 6:5.

To Find :–

  1. The number of girls in the class.
  2. Total number of students in the class.

Solution :–

1. First, we need to find the number of girls and boys.

Let, the number of girls be x.

And the number of boys be x + 5, because according to the question, number of boys 5 more than the number of girls and we put x as a number of girls.

And the given ratio of the number of boys and the number of girls is 6:5.

It means,

 \sf \frac{6}{5}

 \sf \frac{x + 5}{x} =  \frac{6}{5}

Cross multiplication,

→ (x + 5) × 5 = 6 × (x)

→ 5x + 25 = 6x

→ 25 = 6x - 5x

→ 25 = x

So,

  • Number of girls = x = 25
  • Number of boys = x + 5 = 25 + 5 = 30

2. Now, we have to find total number of the students in the class.

For finding the total number of students in the class, we need to add the the number of boys and the number of girls.

So, we already find the number of boys and girls above.

  • Number of boys = 30
  • Number of girls = 25

So,

Number of boys + Number of girls = Total students.

→ 30 + 25

→ 55

Hence the answers is :–

  1. Number of girls = 25
  2. Total number of students in the class = 55.
