The base angles of the triangle are 40°

As the base angles of any triangles are equal.

So let the base angles be x

∴ x +x + 40° = 180° ( sum of all angles of a triangle= 180°)

∴   2x + 40° = 180°

∴             2x = 180 -40

∴             2x = 140

∴               x = 140/2

∴               x = 70

∴The base angles of the triangle are 40°
