many point in the story The Blue bead signifies that the life of the villagers was very difficult. they were poor. She tells that sibia was wearing Earth colour rag which she has torned into two to make skirt and saree. she was eating last of her meal which was a chapati which she broke into two so that it appeared more. they have to face many hardships. the women of the village climbed up the high Hill together to gather paper grass and also crossed the river in their way. they were having nothing not even an anna.
