In Brazil Northeast areas receives orographic type of rainfall. It takes place in areas with excessive moist air. When air with high moisture rate, rises and forms orographic clouds. This air reaches the mountain ridges and uplifting of air causes formation of orographic clouds and as a result precipitation occurs. The moist air is in greater amount in windward side as compared to downwind side. These conditions will cause orographic type of rainfall.

In Brazil, Northeast areas receives orographic type of rainfall.

Orographic rainfall occurs when the rain bearing winds strike against the mountains and this immediately results in precipitation on the windward side of those mountains.

The Northeast is the driestand hottest part of Brazil.  In January, February, and March, the occurrence of precipitating cloud events is higher in the western portion of this region. It mainly affects the states of Maranhão, Piauí, and western Bahia.

Hope it helps!
