in fig. ABCD is a rectangle. find the values of x and y.

ANSWER:

Hey friend,

As we know opposite sides in rectangle are equal.
=>
x+y=30 and x-y=14
x=30-y

Solving both equation .

30-y-y=14
30-2y=14
-2y=-16
y=8

x=30-y
x=30-8
x=22

AB = CD

and BC = AD

AB = CD


x + y = 30 ..... (1)


BC = AD


x - y = 14 .....(2)


ADD EQUATION (1) (2)


2x = 44


x = \bf\huge\frac{44}{2}


Substitute the value in Equation 1


22 + y = 30


y = 30 - 22


y = 8


x = 22 cm and y = 8 cm
