Answer:

(i) Area of the shaded portion = 110 cm²

(ii) Area of the shaded portion in square PQRS = =150 cm²

Explanation:

From the question, we have

(i) Area of the rectangle= length × breadth

= 18×(6+4)

=180 cm²

Area of the triangle BCE =

=\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height\\= \frac{1}{2} \times 8 \times 10\\=  40 cm^{2}

Area of the triangle AFE =

=\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height\\= \frac{1}{2} \times 6 \times 10\\=  30 cm^{2}

Area of the shaded portion =  180-(40+30)

=110 cm²

(ii) Area of the square PQRS= 20²

= 400 cm²

Area of the triangle UQR =

=\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height\\= \frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times 20\\=  100 cm^{2}

Area of the triangle PQT =

=\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height\\= \frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times 20\\=  100 cm^{2}

Area of the triangle TSQ =

=\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height\\= \frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times 10\\=  50 cm^{2}

Area of the shaded portion in square PQRS =

=400-(100+100+50)

=150 cm²

Area :

Area is the space occupied by a two-dimensional figure. In other terms, it is the amount that counts the number of unit squares that cover the surface of a closed figure. In general, square units such as square inches, square feet, etc. are used as the unit of area. It is applied to the calculation of the area enclosed by various geometric figures. A cone is a three-dimensional shape with a circular base. This indicates the base is made up of a radius. The distance between the center of the base and the highest point of the cone is the height of the cone.
