the question you have asked.... i loved it as the north indians are much illetrate than south.... because of the parents and the older people of the society or family they lead specially their boys to enjoy a much better life than a girls as they think that girl would be raped or she will do something wrong...... as they don't know that thinking like this only lead to illetracy and the dirtiest mentality of the boys or the people..... well only this is not the whole answer their are many more reasons why it happens but this much is ok to understand
