( How to find out Valence electron)
valence electrons are the electrons that are located in the outermost electron shell of an element. Knowing how to find the number of valence electrons in a particular atom is an important skill for chemists because this information determines the kinds of chemical bonds that it can form.

if we talk about ions...they are completely stable....it means they have completef their octet. for example in the case of chlorine its atomic no. is 17 and its electronic configuration is 2,8,7...........but when it gain one electron, now it become stable and is called an ion.........So I jzt want to ask u that I STHE VALENCE ELECTRON OF EVERY IONS IS 8
