Mitral or Bicuspid valve is used for the protection of left atrioventricular.

This helps in keeping the leaflets of the valve away that is then developed in the six-leaflet.

However, if things go wrong then the mitral valve is the only type of bicuspid that is between the left ventricle and atrium.
