my earphones are plugged in my laptop but it isn't working. both are in good condition. i need to use it for a history course..... can someone help????

Um, make sure it's properly plugged, you have enabled sounds in you laptop, and check if your earphones are working on other devices...
If that doesn't help still, get a new one. As for the course, take it without one for now ...
