Blood is a fluid that moves around in our body performing multiple functions. These are the basic components of blood:

- Plasma

- Red blood cells

- White blood cells

- Platelets

Red blood cells contain hemoglobin protein which carries oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body.

In you centrifuge a tube of blood at a high speed; it leaves a whitish layer at the top containing all the water, proteins, ions and nutrients. This whitish component is called Plasma.

Plasma carries food and nutrients throughout the body.
