Answer:

The therapy in which a defective gene of a person is replaced with normal gene is called gene therapy. In this process a vector that carries the therapeutic gene is inserted into the lung or liver of the patient.

Then, the proteins are released from the therapeutic inserted DNA which replaces the defective gene.

Gene therapy is a very effective process in curing a person's disease efficiently causing no side effects or harm.

This is of two types - somatic gene therapy and germ line gene therapy.

Gene replacement therapy in which a defective gene is substituted by a normal gene.

Explanation:

  • The improvement in biotechnology lead to the development of gene therapy, in which a defective gene which is hereditary inherited from the parents is substituted then on by a normal gene.
  • Though the gene replacement therapy is not fully effective it is still in research phase.
  • However many successful cases of gene replacement therapy has been successful over the years.
  • It not only prevents genetical inherited disease but also stops the death due to some genetical systemic diseases.
