The two policies followed by undertaken by USSR under Stalin were

a) Collectivisation

b) Industrialisation (5 Year plan)

The main objective to carry out these policies were as follows

1. To turn the country into a modern world power both in terms of being self-sufficient and militarily strong


2. To establish superiority of communism over capitalism (Western powers)


3. To uplift the standards of living of all Soviet citizens by being self sufficient through agricultural . He hoped to achieve this through the introduction of new methods of production especially through the increased use of machinery
