Miss Beam ran a school where boys and girls studying had to live the life of a deaf, blind and lame for a day.

The day when one had to be blind he or she covered their eyes and moved with others help, when one lived as a lame his or her legs were bounded and they had to use clutches. This helped students to learn the plight of the disabled.
