1) If the 100 men do the work for 10 days then the 160 men complete the remaining work in M days which is given by:

  • 100×10/1 = 160×M/2 ( By MDH rule)
  • M = 25/2
  • M = 12.5 Days.

2) After the 18 days, the number of men required Y to complete the remaining work on time,

The number of the days left is 5 days as per estimated and 4.5 as calculated.

  • 160×4.5 = Y×5
  • Y = 144

The men discharge to complete the work on time is 160-144 = 16 Men.

16 Men were discharged after 18 days.

It is 1/3  of Work

Hence  total work =    3000 man days

Remaining work = 3000 - 1000 = 2000 man days

To be completed in 13 more days  total  23 Days

from 11th to 18th   - 8 days

Men = 100 + 60  = 160 Days

Work done =  160 * 8  = 1280  Man days

Work Left  = 2000 - 1280  =  720 Man Days

Days left = 13 - 8 = 5     or (23 - 18 = 5)

Men required  = 720/5  =  144  

Men to be discharged = 160 - 144 = 16

16 Men to be discharged at the end of 18th day
