When the ph in our mouth falls below 5.5, it starts to corrode even enamel. That is why when we eat sugary foods, they turn into acids by enzymes in our mouth and when ph falls below 5.5, enamel starts to corrode. Hence, it becomes the cause of dental caries.

When the mouth pH drops to 5.5 then tooth decay is active.
When the mouth pH is 7.1 or higher, there is no tooth decay.
When the mouth pH is 7.1 or higher, there is no tooth decay.
