The lone pair on oxygen of O-H in phenol is shared with benzene ring through resonance.
Resonance will stabilise it.
So the lone pair is not fully present on oxygen.Hence phenols do not undergo protonation reactions.
Thanks.

Hellooo!!
Electron density on oxygen in phenoxide ion is decreased due to resonance.
The oxygen rather acquire a positive charge.
Therefore phenol does not give protonation readily...
Hope it helps!!
