MY DEAR FRIEND THE FIRST QUESTION IS WRONG. it is so because both the terms has same magnitude but different sign so they will cancel each other. second answer is -8/3. 9 can be written as 3^2 so comparing both sides we get x-1=2 therefore x=3 and 64 can be written as 4^3 in the same way y=1 so putteing the values we get 1/3 - 3 which is -8/3
