This is from the Chapter - Industrial Revolution

The Para means that the wages of the workers were increased in the 19th century but actually this doesn't tell us about improve in their economic condition. These were just mere statistics and doesn't provide the correct image of the lifestyle of the workers . It is because when the prices rose sharply during the Napoleonic war those increased wages were of no use. The condition of the workers were further impoverished because the wages not decided on the basis of profit of the company but were fixed. The workers were given daily wages i.e. wage only for the day which they worked and were not given salary like for months. Thus, there was a seasonal unemployment i.e. periods were there when people remain unemployed since the factories had not employed them but just using them for one day. It is like you are constructing a Shelf and need masons for just one day So you will call them and they will work for the day take money and then " GOODBYE" You haven't employed them but just used them. Same was the case during that era.

Rest are statistics, You have to learn nothing to explain.
