We are told that :

pq = r

p , q and r are real numbers .

Real numbers can either be rational or irrational.

We know that multiplication of two irrational numbers is always a rational number when they are conjugate .

For example .

p = √2

q = √2

pq = 2 [ real number ]

Similarly :

p = 1/√3

q = 1/√3

pq = 1/3

Hence this proves that both p and q can be irrational.

If p and q are real and rational numbers , then the multiplication of p and q will also be rational . Hence it will be real.

For example .

p = 9

q = 4

pq = 36 .

Hence r is real .

This ends our proof .

himanshiguptayoo: did you know 25 the
Anonymous: done .. hope it helps
himanshiguptayoo: Thanks bro
Anonymous: welcome :)
himanshiguptayoo: Bro what if 1 is rational and other irrational
himanshiguptayoo: Is not it is plausible
Anonymous: every irrational number is also a real number
Anonymous: it does not matter whether the answer is rational or irrational , the number will always be real :)
