Convex lens real image formation.
Distance of the object (candle) from the lens: u = -(50.0-26.0) cm.
u = - 24.0 cm.
Distance of the image from the lens = v = +(74.0 - 50.0) cm
v = 24.0 cm
Lens formula: 1/v - 1/u = 1/f
1/24 + 1/24 = 1/f
f = 12.0 cm
focal length = 12 cm.
ii) new object distance = u = - (50.0 - 38.0) = - 12 cm.
1/v - 1/u = 1/f
1/v = 1/12 - 1/12 = 0
v = infinity
So the image is formed at infinity and so there is no image formed on the screen.
iii) see the diagram enclosed.
