The difference between hydrolysis and hydration is that hydrolysis is the chemical reaction between mineral and water, that is between hydrogen ions or hydroxyl ions of the mineral.

On the other hand,

Hydration is a process by which certain minerals expand as they take up water. They form new compounds by chemically reacting with water.

Hydrolysis :- intersection of H⁺ ions with anion and OH– ions with cation of a salt to yield the original acid and the original base is called hydrolysis. e.g.,
Na₂CO₃(salt) + 2H₂O--->2NaOH(base) +H₂CO₃(acid)

Hydration:- addition of H2O to ions or molecules to form hydrated ions or hydrated salts is known as hydration.
for example :-
CuSO4 + 5H2O -->CuSO4.5H2O (blue hydrated salts)
