There lived a rich man in Banaras, he had only one son who had turned ten. His name was Vedant. The man wanted to celebrate his son's tenth birthday with great pomp and show. So, he booked a fine party hall at Hilton Hotel and invited all his relatives and friends. Ved also invited his classmates. He was very happy at the idea of celebrating his birthday at Hilon.

On the day of Ved's birthday, i.e. 10 October, it was a Sunday, but Ved, in his excitement woke up quite early. He eagerly waited for the evening and the celebration. Suddenly his thoughts went to Aakash who was their cook's son and who shared his birthday with him. Could his father also afford the same luxury. While his mind wandered with Aakhash's thought, there was a knock at the door and there came in Aakash with a broad smile and a glass of milk for Ved. Ved wished a happy birthday to Aakash and in response, he shyly responded, 'It's your birthday as well; happy birthday to you also.'

Ved quickly finished his milk and went to his parent's room with Aakash. Both his parents were very happy to see him and wished him a happy birthday. Ved told his parents that Aakash's birthday also fell on the same day and he had also turned ten like him. The father just nodded in return. Ved, with great hesitation, asked his father if he could do him a favor and allow Aakash to have his birthday along with his. The father was a little vexed at the question, but he didn't want to annoy his son on the day of his birthday and agreed to his suggestion.

So, at the party in the evening, there were two cakes instead of one and the decorations had the names of both Ved and Akash. The party was a super duper hit as Ved's mom had arranged many games for kids and there were attractive prizes for the winners. The return gifts also tempting. When the family returned home, they were more than contented. The party had given them double happiness. The happiness that came from making Aakash as a part of the party was much more than the achievement one feels after a work well accomplished. Undoubtedly, Ved, being childlike and innocent, had the credit for it.

Answer:

The False Diamonds

There lived a rich man in Varanasi. He had only one son who had just turned ten. He had a lot of land and property. He wanted to find out a good adviser for his son before his death. The man must be true and honest. This was what the rich man had thought. One day he invited all his relatives to a grand feast. He asked each of them if he was a wise and good man. Every relative called himself the “wisest and best” man in the world. “Ah!” exclaimed the rich man. He gave a diamond to each of his relatives. But one relative remained silent. The rich man asked what he thought of him as a man. The relative replied, “You are a wise and good man but there have been wiser and better men than you”.

This time the rich man gave a smile of satisfaction. He gave him a diamond as big as an almond. He had found the kind of man he wanted. He appointed him his son’s adviser. The next day other relatives came. They complained that the diamonds given to them yesterday were not real. “Yes, they were as false as your words,” said the rich man.
